The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced the approval of a Finding of No Significant Impact related to an environmental analysis concerning modifications to grazing authorizations, range improvements, and stream restoration activities designed to enhance Lahontan Cutthroat Trout (LCT) habitat.
The analysis applies to 38 grazing allotments, covering approximately 367 miles of occupied LCT stream habitat and about 583 acres of occupied LCT lake habitat throughout northern Nevada.
This includes all BLM Nevada-administered allotments with occupied LCT habitat within Nevada, including those managed by BLM Nevada that extend into Oregon.
“This environmental assessment of grazing flexibilities, range improvements, and restoration to improve Lahontan Cutthroat Trout habitat in Nevada has been developed to create a consistent and efficient approach to modifying grazing permits to allow for grazing management flexibility to improve LCT habitat,” said Kathryn Dyer, BLM Nevada Range Program Lead.
Further details on the decision are available on the BLM National NEPA Register.
