City of Reno - Vacation Station

With summer approaching, the City of Reno has announced that registration is now open for the Sierra Kids Summer Camps.

These camps are designed for children with a range of interests and age groups.

In addition to the standard full-day camps, the City will also host several specialty camps focused on specific activities.

The Sierra Kids Summer Camps run Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., beginning the week of June 16 and continuing weekly throughout the summer.

Weekly sessions cost $145, and lunches are not included.

The camps are available for children ages six to 12.5 and will be held at multiple locations:

  •  Jessie Beck Elementary School (1900 Sharon Way)
  • JWood Raw Elementary School (10600 Green Pasture Drive)
  • Westergard Elementary School (1785 Ambassador Drive)
  • Lemelson STEM Academy (2001 Soaring Eagle Drive, times vary)
  • O’Brien Middle School (5000 Silver Lake Road)

Activities include games, arts and crafts, sports, and field trips.

Three specialty camps are also being offered: Bike Camp, STEAM Camp, and Sports Camp.

Most specialty camps operate Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Before and after care is available at JWood Raw Elementary and O’Brien Middle School for a limited number of participants, though transportation will not be provided unless attending a specialty camp at those locations.

The Bike Camp is divided into three levels.

All Bike Camps will be held at the Kiwanis Bike Program, located at 5305 Mill Street.

Pricing is $175 for both beginner and intermediate levels, and $315 for the advanced level.

Sessions are scheduled for June 16–20 and July 7–11.

STEAM Camps are designed for children ages seven to 12 and include activities that involve tools, materials, and engineering and creative challenges.

Variations of the camp include GameStorm, Maker Space Magic Arts, and Alien Explorers.

These camps cost $195 per week, lunches not included, and will be held at the Peavine SKI Pad located at 1601 Grandview Avenue.
