Bureau of Land Management firefighters are responding to the Cornucopia Fire in Elko County, approximately 13 miles north of Tuscarora.

According to a Facebook update from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Nevada, the fire was first reported Monday afternoon, July 15, and is burning in sagebrush and grass.

As of the latest estimate, the fire has grown to approximately 3,306 acres and remains 0% contained.

BLM officials say extreme fire behavior has been observed, with strong winds pushing the fire and contributing to rapid growth.

Crews are continuing direct attack operations using dozers, hand crews, engines, and aerial resources in an effort to bring the fire under control.

Weather remains a concern in the area, with isolated dry thunderstorms possible through Wednesday, July 17.
