Investigation underway after deadly crash with pedestrian on 8th Street in Reno

An investigation is underway after a deadly crash involving a pedestrian on 8th Street in downtown Reno early Thursday morning.

The incident happened around 6 a.m., closing 8th Street between University Way and Virginia Street near the Walgreens until around 8:25 a.m. All roads have since reopened with no controls.

Police say the unidentified pedestrian died after being transported to the hospital.

The Reno Police Department M.A.I.T (Major Accident Investigation Team) is handling the investigation. Police say the driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene of the crash and is cooperating with the investigation.

Police say that speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash.
