The Domestic Violence Resource Center is preparing to break ground on what will become Nevada’s largest domestic violence shelter.
Set to take place the first week of November, the groundbreaking will mark the start of construction for a new survivor safe haven in Reno.
The project is part of the center’s “Inside These Doors” campaign, an effort to expand access to safety, stability, and long-term support for survivors of domestic violence and their families.
The existing shelter has already been demolished to make way for the new facility, which the organization said will better serve the community’s growing needs.
“This new shelter represents hope, healing, and a future where every survivor has a safe place to turn,” the Domestic Violence Resource Center stated. “Through the ‘Inside These Doors’ campaign, we’re building more than walls, we’re building a path to safety.”
Once complete, the new facility will provide expanded space for emergency housing, counseling, advocacy, and supportive services.
Construction will begin following the groundbreaking, with more details to be shared as the project moves forward.
