Girls on the Run Sierras is kicking off a community-wide shoe drive designed to ensure every girl in its program has access to a quality pair of athletic shoes.
Businesses across the Reno-Sparks area are stepping up to support this mission by hosting the shoe drive through the end of the month.
People can drop off new children's athletic shoes at one of several locations throughout the area.
Participating businesses include the following.
- Enterprise Mobility
- NV Energy
- The Laughton Company
- Greater Nevada Credit Union (8 locations in Reno, Sparks, and Carson City)
- Swet Fitness
- Peak Performance Chiropractic
- Sunday Pilates
- Sierra Sotheby’s International Realty
- PK Electrical Inc.
- Kaia FIT Sierra (4 locations in Reno & Sparks)
- United Federal Credit Union (9 locations in Reno, Sparks, and Carson City)
- Sierra Canyon by Del Webb
Each location has a designated collection box where community members can donate a new pair of kids' athletic shoes in big kid sizes 2 to 6.
Additionally, those who prefer to donate online can purchase shoes via Girls on the Run Sierras’ wish lists on Target, Walmart, and Amazon, with items shipping directly to the organization.
The goal is to collect 250 pairs of shoes by the end of the drive.
