MGN Easter Baskets

With baskets in hand and a mission rooted in community, a local nonprofit is bringing a personal touch to families who help keep travel moving.

Ashlee’s Toy Closet, Inc., a nonprofit, is partnering with local businesses and community groups to deliver Easter baskets to children of Transportation Security Administration families at the Reno-Tahoe Airport this week.

Organizers say the effort is meant to recognize the work TSA employees continue to do and to offer support to their families through a simple but thoughtful gesture.

The baskets are handcrafted and personalized for each child. Each one is filled and assembled by hand before being delivered to families.

Ashlee’s Toy Closet says the goal is to make sure every child connected to TSA families receives a basket, while also showing appreciation for the people who work at the airport.

The nonprofit partnered with several local businesses to complete the project, including Scheels Sparks, Reno Aces, Grocery Outlet Spanish Springs, Chick-fil-A Sparks, Walmart Lemmon Valley, and the ATC Team.

Organizers say the deliveries are taking place at the airport this week.

They say the effort reflects what can happen when the community works together to support local families.
