Baldwin and Nevada Beach are officially open this weekend.

However, the recent storm that came through covered the sand with snow.

Despite the snow, wind and cold temperatures, some people still wanted to visit the beaches and take advantage of their time in Lake Tahoe.

"It's freezing, but the cold is awesome. People should come here. It's amazing. It's as if we got a private opportunity here. There is no one here, but everybody should come here. It's been an awesome experience," said Satya Kotaru.

Some people took advantage of the snow by using cross country skis, building snowmen and having snowball fights.

One person visiting Lake Tahoe for the first time says that she was not expecting to see snow on the beach, but it was a pleasant surprise.

"It's a really special experience, but we weren't prepared, so we have not like the winter clothing at all. So just trying multiple layers and enjoy the view. I think it's more spectacular than without snow," said Sanne Klaegn.

Beach passes for the season are $100 and are good until the season ends in October.

Dogs are not allowed at Baldwin or Nevada Beach and there are a limited number of passes that will be sold this year.
