LVMPD unveils new cybertruck fleet

On Tuesday, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department unveiled 10 Tesla Cybertrucks, marking the first fully operational fleet of the electric cars used for law enforcement in the United States.

Each area command in the valley will receive one, equipped with tactical tools to assist patrol officers on critical calls such as barricades and shootings.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill said on the agency's website that the vehicles were donated by Ben and Felicia Horowitz, ensuring that no tax dollars were used to purchase or outfit them. “This is part of our goal to make LVMPD the most technologically advanced police department in the country,” he said.

The Cybertrucks join a series of recent innovations, including the Joint Emergency Training Institute, the Drone First Responder Unit, and remotely operated drones, emphasizing the department’s focus on advanced technology.

The unveiling was held at the Otonomous Hotel, the world’s first AI-powered sustainable hotel.

In a Facebook post, the department said:

"The future of policing has arrived. LVMPD just unveiled the nation’s first fully operational Cybertruck patrol fleet — safer, smarter, and zero emissions."
