Governor Joe Lombardo and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Nevada, have signed a formal agreement to enhance collaboration on data concerning federal lands within the state that may be available for disposal.
The Data Sharing Agreement is intended to streamline information sharing among the BLM Nevada, the Office of the Governor, and the Nevada Division of Minerals.
Governor Lombardo stated, “I’m pleased to announce the State’s joint agreement with the Bureau of Land Management, Nevada today. This agreement will improve our ability to share critical data about public lands in Nevada and help inform future housing and economic development in our communities.
I’m grateful to BLM Nevada for their partnership, and I look forward to making progress on this key issue together.”
Kim Prill, Acting State Director of BLM Nevada, commented, “We look forward to working with the State of Nevada to provide accurate data as efficiently as possible to help Nevadans find public land potentially available for disposal.”
The agreement outlines four primary goals:
Establish a system for exchanging information on public lands in Nevada that might qualify for disposal.
Promote interagency data sharing to improve efficiency and reduce public costs.
Prevent redundant data collection efforts.
