The Washoe County District Attorney's Office has a new chief investigator - Stephanie Shuman.

She will be taking over the role due to the retirement of longtime Chief Michelle Bays.

Shuman will work as the office’s new Chief of the Investigations Division and Victim Services Unit.

Shuman began her law enforcement career with the Division of Parole and Probation in 2004. She also worked in several task forces, such as the U.S. Marshals Task Force, Regional Repeat Offender Program, and the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit.

Bays started her law enforcement career in 1994.
