Reno Fire Department

The Reno Fire Department, in collaboration with State Farm and Waste Management of Northern Nevada, is encouraging residents to take part in the 2025 Reno Home Wildfire Fuels Reduction Dumpster Program.

This free initiative allows neighborhoods near the wildland-urban interface to dispose of dangerous yard debris to reduce fire risks.

New this year, residents in areas outside Reno Fire Department jurisdiction, including those served by Sparks and Truckee Meadows Fire Departments, can now apply.

The program, funded by grants from State Farm and Waste Management, offers 30-yard dumpsters delivered Fridays and picked up Mondays.

Applications are open online beginning Friday, April 11, until September 1, 2025, or until funding is exhausted, with limited availability.

Additional information and qualifications:

  • Residents must be located within Waste Management's service area to qualify.
  • Dumpsters are for one-time use only; they cannot be emptied and returned during the requested time period.
  • Dumpsters will be delivered and picked up according to Waste Management's schedule.

  • Waste Management provides three 30-yard dumpsters each weekend for the program.
  • Dumpsters are intended to be used by the entire neighborhood.
  • Dumpsters are for the disposal of vegetative waste or yard debris/refuse ONLY.
  • Furniture, appliances, construction materials, hazardous materials, and chemicals are NOT allowed in the dumpsters.
