On Wednesday, Senator Jacky Rosen visited the USPS Processing and Distribution Center in Reno.

During a press conference, Senator Rosen said herself and other state leaders put a lot of pressure on Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to continue processing local mail in Reno.

Senator Rosen said there is still work to be done, but one thing is for certain.

"What we know for sure is that local mail will stay in Nevada. We will continue to work with Mickey and the unions to be sure that anything going forward that Nevadans receive their mail on time and that we don't send it out, but mail that gets sent here from Nevada and is going to another place in Nevada, that's what we know today," said Senator Jacky Rosen.

According to the USPS update from yesterday, "outgoing single piece mail will continue to be processed at its current location."

However, we are still wondering what will happen with other mail such as parcels and flats.

The president of the local American Postal Workers Union says that may still be up in the air.

"I only see that there seems to be a guarantee of processing letters in this facility, the rest they did not disclose. They did not define, and they were pretty vague when I particularly tried to lock down an answer," said Jamila Bush, President of the Reno American Postal Workers Union.

Bush also said that the updated plan to add more mail carriers to work for the facility could create spacing issues, making it harder to process all local mail out of the facility.

We should have more details following the USPS meeting which is set for September 5th.
