The 37th year of the Numaga Days Powwow will be held August 28 through August 31. The location of the event is 501 Many Nations Road in Sparks.

The event is open to the public and everyone is welcome.

The Numaga Days Powwow continues to honor local Native Americans.

SIC is proudly organizing this culturally important gathering of nearly 10,000 attendees throughout the weekend to honor Paiute Chief Numaga, according to the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony.

Powwow singers and drummers will compete for $18,000 in prizes. Additionally, professional hand game players or traditional gamblers will compete for $8,000 in prizes.

The main tournament will take place on August 30.
