A man is in custody after a standoff this afternoon with Reno Police in downtown Reno.

According to the Reno Police Department, officers were called to the area of 1st Street and Sierra Street around 2:30 p.m. this afternoon for a report of assault with a deadly weapon.

When officers arrived on the scene, they learned that a man had pointed a gun at multiple people, then ran away into a nearby apartment.

Officials found the suspect's apartment and set up a perimeter - they then began to negotiate and were able to get the suspect to come out, where they arrested him after an hours-long standoff.

The suspect has been identified as 27-year old Blue Jansma. He's been arrested for six counts of assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm in a public place, and obstruction of a public officer.

Sierra Street was closed for the duration of the incident from Island Ave to Court Street - all roads have been reopened.
