A Washoe County Jail inmate has died after being placed on long-term hospice care late last year.Â
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office says the inmate, whose name has not been released, was booked into the detention facility in July.Â
The inmate was transported to a nearby hospital to receive care for a chronic illness on November 8th and then died on Tuesday.Â
Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct official death investigations.Â
Deputies say the inmate had existing medical conditions, including a chronic illness for which they had received treatment while in custody, in addition to being transported to the hospital on multiple occasions for treatment.
