A variety of adaptive sports were made available to people with disabilities through the Mark Wellman Adventure Day and Abilities Expo on Sunday.
Participants and their families were invited to try out hand cycling, rock climbing, and kayaking with the use of adaptive equipment.
Everyone was getting active.
This is the event's 19th year and the man who started the event with Sparks Parks and Rec has quite the story.
"I was the first paraplegic to climb El Capitan and half dome in Yosemite National Park in my younger days," said Event Founder, Mark Wellman. "But I got hurt in a climbing accident 41 years ago when I was 22 and it's been my passion to kind of show adventure sports to the disabled community."
The event also had nearly twenty different non-profit organizations there to provide resources for the disabled community or anyone else looking for information.
Hundreds of people and their families were taking advantage of the resources and activities that were provided.
For most people, it was their first time getting to participate in adventure sports.
