Earlier this week, a former captain with the Nye County Sheriff's Office pleaded guilty to charges of violating civil rights and wire fraud.

According to statements and court documents, 44-year David E. Boruchowitz admitted that while acting as a law enforcement official, he arrested Angela Evans - the former CEO of Valley Electric Association (VEA) - without probable cause on charges of embezzlement.

Officials say that during the arrest, he deprived Evans of her 4th Amendment right to be free of unreasonable search and seizure.

Boruchowitz also admitted that he was trying to carry out a scheme to seize a seat on the Board of Directors for VEA, of which arresting Evans was part of that scheme.

Scheduling is sentenced for Boruchowitz on June 10, where he faces a maximum potential penalty of 21 years in prison.
