The Sparks Fire Department investigated the smell of gas at Northern Nevada Medical Center in Sparks on Wednesday evening.

A spokesperson with the Sparks Fire Department says they got calls saying people in the hospital smelled gas.

When firefighters arrived on scene their equipment didn't show the presence of a gas leak.

Firefighters thought the smell was originating from the kitchen, so they shut off the gas to the kitchen and are ventilating the entire hospital.

The Fire Department says there is no threat to anyone and no plans to evacuate the hospital.
