Captain Sam Brown has officially filed to run for U.S. Senate in Nevada.

The Republican filed his paperwork in Carson City on Thursday. His wife, Amy was also on hand for the filing.

“We need leadership and representatives who understand the needs and concerns of Nevadans. I’m proud to sign up today to become the next U.S. Senator from the state of Nevada,” said U.S. Senate candidate Sam Brown to a group of family, friends, and supporters after the filing. “The Biden Administration and Democrat leadership in the Senate have not served Nevadans well. This is a movement of “We the People” and we are going to put people over politics.”

Brown is expected to challenge incumbent Democratic Senator Jacky Rosen in the general election.

Recent polls show Brown and Rosen in a virtual tie.

Earlier this week, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam endorsed Brown.

"As Washoe County Sheriff, I know how important it is to have representatives who understand and respect law enforcement's role in our daily lives. My top priority is to protect the citizens of Washoe County, and I can only do that when we have the resources to support our deputies," said Balaam.

"Sam Brown stands with Nevada’s men and women in blue and will be a champion for law and order. I am proud to endorse Sam Brown for U.S. Senate.”

Brown responded, saying, "I am honored to receive Sheriff Balaam's endorsement. As a Washoe County resident, I am grateful for the hard work and sacrifice of local law enforcement in keeping our communities safe."

"As Nevada's next U.S. Senator, I’ll immediately get to work to prioritize public safety, secure our borders, and support the police.”

Senator Jacky Rosen gave the following statement regarding Sheriff Balaam's endorsement:

“Senator Rosen has been proud to stand with Nevada law enforcement throughout her career – helping to secure critical funding to address staffing shortages, provide essential equipment upgrades, and improve mental health resources for officers.”
