Trevor Parker, a Reno resident and hospitality industry professional who calls himself the Biggest Little Dreamer, will soon begin a 2,000-mile skateboarding tour.

Friday, July 11, was his launch party, which hosted several fundraiser activities to start him off on his journey and to give to the non-profits he chose to raise money for.

Those non-profits, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Eddy House, are the whole reason for this long journey ahead.

Parker is preparing to skateboard from the United States-Canada border in Blaine, Washington, to Mexico.

This journey to skateboard across the country has been a long-time dream of his.

“I’ve been seeing people do it, so you know time is of the essence," said Parker. "I’ll be 38 this month, so I don’t want to waste any more time.”

Parker has lived in Reno his whole life. His family has been in the Biggest Little City going back 120 years.

The charities he chose to donate to are near and dear to his heart, and he wants to give the most back to the community that raised him.

He told us he’s most excited for today to be over, because to him that means he has already succeeded.

“I do believe I’ve already succeeded up to this point," he said. "I’ve accomplished many things in my days of preparation leading up to this.”

Parker admits there are also some things he’s pretty nervous about before the big voyage.

“I’m the most nervous about my body," he said. "I am getting older. I’m not this star athlete. I’m not this person. You know, my backpack's heavy!”

This entire experience will be brand new to him.

Parker tells us all the nerves and anxious feelings are slowly subsiding because now it’s up to him to do the best he can.

“I planned everything by myself and to be as gritty as possible, so if I prepare for the worst-case scenario, anything positive or good that comes on top of that will be extra,” he said.

For this expedition he’s gathered camping supplies and says he will be sleeping where he can on the way since he won’t be able to afford a hotel every night.

“I’m bearing myself to do something cool, but it’s also fulfilling my dream," he said. "It’s doing something positive. I’m trying to wrap it all up in one burrito.”
