Movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU as many call it, have set many records over the years. They might want to keep the one they set this weekend, though.

"The Marvels," the latest film in the 33-movie deep MCU saga, is the lowest opening film in the history of Marvel Studios.

The movie opened to just $47 million, unseating "The Incredible Hulk," starring Edward Norton to claim the prize of weakest MCU opening. Overseas, the movie made $41.5 million for a global take of $88.5 million so far.

That is an especially wobbly start for a movie that reportedly cost well over $200 million.

Critical reaction to the movie, which has been dogged by rumors of extensive reshoots, has been middling at best.

In second place is "Five Nights at Freddy's," which slid 52% from last weekend for a gross of $9 million. The demonic animatronics have so far scared up more than $127 million in North America and nearly $125 million elsewhere for a worldwide gross of more than $250 million so far.

As the film was made for a slight $20 million, news of more fun with Freddy and the gang seems inevitable.

In third, the box office has yet to shake off "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour."

In its fifth weekend, Swifties added another $5.9 million to its coffers. It has so far made more than $172 million domestically and $68.4 million overseas for a global haul of more than $240 million.

In 4th place, Sofia Coppola's "Priscilla" fell less than 5% from last weekend, earning $4.8 million.

The movie tells the story of Pricilla Pressley's early relationship with Elvis. It has garnered amazing reviews and word of mouth has been stellar, contributing to its small weekend to weekend drop.

In 5th, Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon" continues to draw older audiences. Its $4.65 million gross this weekend has brought it to almost $60 million at the U.S. box office. It has made more than $77 million overseas for a worldwide gross of more than $137 million.
