NHP Says Fatigue May Have Caused Deadly Accident Near Mina

Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers say fatigue may have played a part in a deadly collision on Highway 95 south of Mina in Mineral County this weekend. 

Troopers say 52-year-old Louis Manuel Plascencia of Madera, California was trying to make a U-turn southbound on the highway around 7 a.m. on Saturday when his semi-truck trailer hit the left rear side of a Honda Pilot driven by 43-year-old Duong Chi Ly of Reno. 

Troopers say Ly and his left rear passenger, 44-year-old Trinh M. Duong of Reno both died at the scene. Two other people inside the SUV suffered minor injuries. 

Troopers say everyone inside the Pilot was wearing their seatbelts. 

Trooper Chris Kelly of the Nevada Highway Patrol's Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (MIRT) is investigating this incident.
