One man has died in a glider plane crash near the Minden airport.
According to a press release, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office was notified by the Nevada Highway Patrol of an emergency transmission just before 3 p.m. The Nevada Civil Air Patrol, assisted by the U.S. Air Force, located a crashed glider approximately 8 miles east of the Minden Tahoe Airport in the Pine Nut Mountain Range.
The pilot was found deceased in the wreckage. He has been identified as 74-year-old Joseph N. Lowenhardt of Minden.
The pilot was the only occupant of the aircraft.Â
The cause of the crash is being investigated by the FAA.
