From the Bureau of Land Management:Â
More than 200 wildland firefighters are on the scene of a wildland fire approximately 25 miles north of Battle Mountain in Lander County.Â
The Izzenhood Fire has burned approximately 6,600 acres and is 20% contained.Â
Residences and structures are threatened to the north of the fire, there have been no evacuations.
Initial Attack fire personnel worked late into the evening Thursday night and additional resources to include engines, dozers and a Type 2 Incident Management Team will arrive by Friday evening.
Firefighter safety is a main concern with erratic fire behavior and changing weather conditions.
The fire is burning in brush and grass, sage grouse habitat is threatened.
