UPDATE: The Placer County Sheriff's Office has released new details in a shooting that happened at the Boatworks Mall last weekend on Saturday.

They said they identified a suspect as 52-year-old Salvador Murillo-Cabrera of Reno. He is deceased from an apparent suicide.

Placer County Sheriff says they are waiting on ballistic results to confirm whether or not he was responsible for the crime.

They said their detectives learned the victim and suspect were former co-workers at a restaurant near the Boatworks Mall in Tahoe City. They said the suspect believed the co-worker was having an affair with the suspect's wife. Placer County Sheriff has not confirmed that information at this time.

They said Murillo-Cabrera was seen at the location of the shooting moments before the murder and a car similar to one owned by him was seen fleeing the scene moments after the homicide occurred.

They said on that Sunday, the suspect was located at the St. Peter Canisius Catholic Church in the Sun Valley area of Reno and had apparently committed suicide in the church bathroom during church service. 

Placer County Sheriff says a handgun in his possession was the same caliber containing the same brand of ammunition as the one used in the Tahoe City homicide. 

They said they are waiting on lab results to determine if the gun was the same.

They said the investigation is ongoing.

Placer Sheriffs have confirmed that 33-year-old Octavio Villa-Villanueva has died after the shooting at Boatworks Mall.

Villanueva was a resident of Sparks

That other victim is currently in critical condition.

Placer Sheriffs confirm that two have been injured in what they are calling a double shooting.

At this time the status of those injured is unknown and there is no description of the shooter

Placer County Sheriff's Office is responding to shots fired at Boatworks Mall in Tahoe City.

North Tahoe Fire Protection District says this is not an active shooting.

This is an active and evolving incident.

Officials are asking to stay away from the area and yield to emergency personnel.
