From The Salvation Army:
Registrations for children's Christmas Toy Distribution will be taken at The Salvation Army Christmas Center located at 2301 Valley Road on the following dates/times:
Monday - Tuesday, December 21st – 22nd from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM to 4 PM
In order to successfully register, you must bring the following items: ID for head of household; proof of Washoe County residency (power bill, lease, etc., documentation must have physical address), birth certificate or other proof of age for all children (ages 0 - 17) to be registered, and proof of low-income eligibility: pay stubs, SNAP card, etc. Please note that Social Security cards are not accepted to qualify children for this program.
Toy Registration is for children in low income families ages 0 to 17. You will register and receive the toys on the same day. Wait times tend to be less Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. The Salvation Army would like to express gratitude to our community partners: The Marine Corps "Toys for Tots” and The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary.
Last year, The Salvation Army, in partnership with Toys for Tots, was able to provide new toys for over 9,000 children in Washoe County. We anticipate helping about the same number of children or more this year. Toys for boys and girls ages ten and older are needed most. Suggested gifts include recreation items, basketballs, craft kits for older girls, UNR sweatshirts, personal electronics, comforters, etc.
The Salvation Army Angel Trees have been up in local businesses since early-mid November. Trees with tags that have toy suggestions for children can still be found at the Meadowood Mall Guest Services kiosk. The last date toys will be accepted there is December 18th.
Monetary and toy donations are currently being accepted at the Christmas Center on Valley Road 9 AM – 7 PM Monday – Saturday. If you wish to make a credit card donation, please call 775-688-4555.
