The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an inmate who died last Friday inside the county jail.
Deputies say correctional officers found Anthony Marino unresponsive in his cell just after 3:30 a.m. on Friday.
Officers performed lifesaving efforts on Marino, but he was declared dead at 4:02 a.m.Â
The Sheriff’s Office initiated the Critical Incident Protocol, which it says is common with any in custody incidents of this nature. The protocol activates a multi-agency investigative team comprised of Sheriff’s Office Detectives, District Attorney Investigators, CHP Investigators, South Lake Tahoe PD Detectives and Placerville PD Detectives.Â
His cause of death remains under investigation.Â
