Nevada lawmakers are set to hear the first details of broadly-supported legislation that would expand tax breaks to aerospace industries.
Senate and Assembly members will hear details of SB 93 and AB 161 on Thursday during a joint subcommittee hearing on tax abatements.
The bills would exempt aerospace companies from paying a significant portion of sales and use tax. Bill sponsor Assemblywoman Irene Bustamante-Adams said the only difference in the bills was the length in time of the abatement, but the Las Vegas Democrat said she didn't see it as a major issue.
Republican Senate Majority Leader Michael Roberson said the bill passed unanimously out of the Senate last session but didn't receive a hearing in the Assembly. Roberson said he expects bipartisan support on the bill.
