Teen Arrested for Setting Fires in Nixon

UPDATE: As of 2 p.m. Sunday, Sparks Police says Howard Drive and East Prater Way are back open after a dumpster fire.

Crews responded to the area at 12:40 p.m. Sunday. They say the dumpster was fully engulfed when they arrived on scene. The fire spread a little bit, but firefighters were able to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sparks Police and Fire are responding to reports of a dumpster fire in the area of Howard Drive and East Prater Way. 

They are asking the public to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. 

Officers on scene are evacuating some nearby residents as a safety precaution.
