Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will address a joint session of Congress on Tuesday. On Monday, he spoke out against negotiations with Iran at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee Conference.
"Iran vows to annihilate Israel. If it gets a nuclear weapon it will achieve that goal. We must not let it happen."
Netanyahu says he will talk more about the threat of Iran in his Congressional address tomorrow. Â
House Speaker John Boehner did not coordinate the Netanyahu invite with the White House and the administration has criticized the breach of protocol - but has reaffirmed its commitment to Israel. Â
"The bond between the United States and Israel is still a national commitment, it should never be a partisan matter," says Samantha Power, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
Boehner also has invited former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel.
The administration says President Obama is not meeting with Netanyahu because his trip is too close to the upcoming Israeli elections.
