From the Nevada Humane Society:
Poppi, a four year old mini poodle, is facing a big struggle after a bad accident. While she is getting the help she needs at Nevada Humane Society, donations are now needed to help cover the medical costs of her care.
Poppi was found injured by the side of the road. A trucker picked her up and stopped at the nearest store to ask for help. A couple of good Samaritans who were at the store agreed to take her and get her to a veterinarian, who began basic care. Due to the extent of care needed, they called Nevada Humane Society.
“Poppi's finders recently drove a distance to get her to us. She has two broken back legs, a broken pelvis, and bruising from her accident. She was seen by a specialist who determined, along with our veterinary team, that removing one of the legs would ultimately save her life and allow for the rest of her body to heal,” said Kimberly Wade, Senior Manager of Communications and Events for Nevada Humane Society. “Poppi has been in a rough spot before too, made evident by a missing eye. Overall she is very lucky and will be ok in time but a long recovery is expected. Her sweet nature is evident in her demeanor and we are confident that her spirit remains unbroken.”
Nevada Humane Society is seeking donations as the cost of her medical treatment will put a strain on shelter resources. Animal lovers can contribute by making a donation to Emily's Fund for Injured Pets. Contributions are tax-deductible and can be sent to Nevada Humane Society at 2825 Longley Lane, Reno, NV 89502 or called in by phone at 775-856-2000, ext. 324.
