A new art gallery opened its doors during Artown, Reno's annual celebration of the arts. The Reno Fine Arts Collective features dozens of local artists.

"What we wanted to do there is position all the top artists and talent from this area online first, and then do it in the gallery," said Reno Fine Arts Collective CEO Kevin O'Keefe, who founded the Collective with his daughter, Briana Dolan.

The gallery is in the Chase building in Downtown Reno.

"It's one of the largest galleries in the Western United Sates," O'Keefe said. "We have 40 local artists from the Reno-Tahoe area, and 350 pieces of artwork; oil paintings, mixed-media sculptures, bespoke furniture, really all the best of the artists of this area."

The Collective has plans for for citywide events and eventually, an international art show to highlight the talent right here in the region.

"The goal really is to change the way Reno is perceived, so it's looked at as an arts and culture center," O'Keefe said. "We feel at this time, after the Covid situation, everyone is looking at LA and New York and Chicago differently. We already have a great arts and culture center here, so we're going to point out to the whole world and say, we're here and we're as good as Paris or New York or LA or San Francisco, so come on and enjoy what we have."

The gallery is open six days a week and there's a speaker series every Friday night. Click here for more
