Two U.S. officials have confirmed an Israeli missile strike on Iran.
CBS News confirmed that an Israeli missile hit Iran. The strike comes after Iran launched a drone and missile attack on Israel in retaliation for an attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria.
Iran said following their drone and missile attack that there would be a much tougher response to any Israeli counterattack attack on its soil according to the Associated Press.
Sources would not speak on where or how big the Israeli strike was, and Israeli Defense Forces had no comment when CBS News reached out to them.
Iran's state news agency said the country fired air defenses across multiple provinces, with the agency saying that defenses were also fired at a major Iranian air base in Isfahan.
That base has long housed an Iranian fleet of American-made F-14 Tomcats that Iran bought before the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Sites associated with the country's nuclear program are also located in Isfahan.
