Palisades Tahoe has announced that they will be holding their annual pond skim this coming weekend.
The 33rd annual Cushing Crossing pond skim will take place on Saturday, May 10 starting at 1:00 p.m. - weather and conditions permitting.
In the skim, participants will attempt to ski or snowboard across Cushing Pond in a variety of costumes.
Organizers point out that Cushing Crossing is one of the only pond-skimming events in the area to take place on a naturally-formed pond.
Registration is $20 per person and starts at 8:00 a.m. on the day of the event. Spots are limited, and registration is first-come, first-served.
Admission to view the pond skim is free, and viewers are also encouraged to wear costumes.
A raffle will be held during the event to benefit the Palisades Avalanche Dog Program, which helps with the care, training, and equipment for the resort's crew of avalanche dogs.
Palisades Tahoe remains open through Memorial Day, May 26.
