The Gold Fire, burning near Golden Eagle Regional Park, is now 98% contained.
The fire has not grown in size since our last update, holding steady at 1,226 acres.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has released more information about the Gold Fire burning today near the Golden Eagle Regional Park.
BLM, who is now in command of the fire efforts, says that the fire is currently estimated at 1,226 acres, with 0% containment.
Assisting BLM with the fire is the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, Reno Fire Department, Sparks Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service.
Aerial resources are being used, including one air attack platform, two single-engine air tankers, and four helicopters.
Officials are asking the public to stay out of the area, and drone use in the area of the fire is strictly prohibited.
Original Story (7/20/2025, 2:20 p.m.):
Sparks Fire Department (SFD) and Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue (TMFR) are on scene of a vegetation fire this afternoon.
According to SFD, the fire broke out behind the ballparks at Golden Eagle Regional Park in Sparks.
A recent update from the City of Sparks notes that Reno Fire Department and the Bureau of Land Management are involved in the fire efforts as well, and they are all working in unified command.
The fire has been listed at 1,200 acres in size.
No evacuations have been issued at this point, but crews are asking everyone to avoid the area.
