The Nevada Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program announced that clinics across the state remain open during the ongoing federal government shutdown.
WIC says participants can continue using their benefits and accessing services as usual.
“Ensuring uninterrupted food benefits and program support for pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and children is our main priority, and Nevadans should continue to redeem their food benefits and attend clinic visits,” said Blanca Ayala, Nevada WIC Program Director. “Nutritious food, breastfeeding education and support, and health screenings are vital to keeping women and infants healthy.”
A notice on the program’s website reassures participants that “Your WIC benefits are still available, and WIC offices remain open. Please continue using your benefits, going to your appointments, and accessing services as usual.”
The program is monitoring the federal shutdown and any potential impact on benefits. “You and your family are our top priority, and we will keep you updated as we learn more,” the notice states.
Nevada WIC officials said they will continue to evaluate next steps and provide updates to participants, vendors, and subgrantees as needed.
Participants are encouraged to use their EBT cards as normal, keep scheduled appointments, and stay connected through the Nevada WIC website or WICShopper App.
For questions, participants can call 1-800-863-8942 or email WICgeneral@health.nv.gov.
