Sparks Police say a woman reported someone trying to break into her home on Greenbrae Drive just before 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
In a release, police say the suspect is a man she previously dated.
The woman barricaded herself somewhere inside the home until police arrived after the suspect, identified as Vance Lutzi, was allegedly able to force entry into the home.
Officers arrived and were able to get the victim to safety as they attempted contact with Lutzi.
It was determined that Lutzi fled out the back of the home. He returned to the front of the house shortly afterward.
Officers attempted to detain Lutzi, who hid his right hand behind his back and made statements about the Officers shooting him.
Officers used a taser on him and he was taken into custody and treated at an area hospital before being taken to the Washoe County Jail.
He was booked on charges including home invasion constituting domestic violence, battery by a prisoner, and resisting an officer.
