The Nevada Health Authority has opened the application period for new state funding through Nevada's Graduate Medical Education Grant Program.
They say the grant funding is in support of initiatives that "create, expand or strengthen programs for residency training and postdoctoral fellowships in Nevada."
More than $15 million in grant funding was made available during the last legislative session.
In a statement, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo said,
“Expanding residency training is one of the most effective ways we can bolster our healthcare workforce and attract top talent to Nevada. Doctors overwhelmingly choose to practice where they complete their residency, and by investing in residency and fellowship programs here at home, we are keeping Nevada-trained, Nevada-educated physicians in our communities, creating a stable, long-term pipeline of medical professionals to serve Nevada families for years to come.”
