In a closely contested U.S. presidential race, Latino and Hispanic voters are a crucial voting bloc. As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Harris and Trump campaigns are holding events to engage with these communities in Nevada.

Today, the Trump campaign hosted a "Latinos for Trump" parade and town hall at La Fonda in Reno.

"17% of the voters in this election are going to be Hispanics," says Jaime Florez, Spanish Spokesperson for the Trump Campaign. "It's going to be 37 million voters that could vote in November's election. We have very good numbers in terms of how the difference—that lately, for the last 30 years [Hispanics] have been supporting Democrats, but they've been moving to Republicans."

According to the Pew Research Center, nearly 15% of all eligible voters are Latino, and more than 7% are Hispanic.

Trump and Harris campaign hold outreach events for key Latino / Hispanic voting bloc

The Nevada Trump Campaign welcomed hundreds from Reno's Latino community today as they showed their support and talked about the issues with local Republican candidates.

We spoke to Kevin Munoz, the national spokesperson for the Harris campaign, who is a member of the Latino community. Munoz says that the Harris campaign has invested more resources earlier than any other presidential campaign to reach and mobilize Hispanic and Latino voters.

"So when you look at what we're doing to phone bank every single day of this election season into the communities that will decide this election; when you look at the historic tens of millions of dollars going into paid media and organizing - those are the things that are going to make the difference in getting this vote," says Munoz.

In the 2020 election, more than six in ten Latinos supported Joe Biden. It remains to be seen how issues such as record immigration numbers and inflation will change that trend.
