OCTOBER 17 UPDATE
An escaped inmate from Plumas County is back in custody after a brief standoff with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office SWAT team and the Plumas County Sheriff's Office.
On Thursday at around 11 a.m., the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from WCSO SWAT to respond to a home in the Johnsville, California, area where they believed 39-year-old Caleb Duerr was hiding.
WCSO deployed its SWAT, Hostage Negotiation, K9, and Drone teams to assist in the operation, according to a WCSO press release.
Duerr had escaped from the Plumas County Jail on September 27th and was considered violent and dangerous.
When officers arrived at the home they called for Duerr to come out and he ultimately surrendered without incident and was taken into custody by the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office.

The Plumas County Sheriff's Office has released new photos and information on an escaped prisoner who is considered dangerous.
Deputies say 39-year-old Caleb Duerr escaped from the Plumas County Jail from the inclement yard on Friday by manipulating two fenced areas and going to the nearby O'Reilly's Auto Parts store where he got a ride from someone at the store.
Deputies say the man who gave him a ride dropped off Duerr at Highway 70 and County Road A-23 near Beckwourth. Duerr was last seen walking Southbound on A-23 near the gravel pits between approximately 9:45 a.m.
Deputies say Duerr has likely changed his appearance, but he was last seen with short brown hair, a beard, and blue eyes. He's 6’1”, 165 pounds, with no visible tattoos or scars.
He was last known wearing navy blue inmate pants, T-shirt and a possible blue outer shirt similar to those in the photographs.
Since last Friday, several agencies have joined in on the search, including state and federal law enforcement.
The Plumas Unified School District was notified of the escape and the Sheriff’s Office called allied agencies for the use of K-9 units and air patrol.
The Sheriff’s Office staff also sent out notifications to the public of the escaped inmate. The Sheriff’s Office received several reports of seeing Duerr in various areas between Quincy and Portola, however, all proved to be misidentification and not Caleb Duerr.
Deputies say, "since his escape, Duerr has made contact with individuals by email suggesting he has either obtained a phone or access to a computer with internet service."
Duerr has family and friends in California, Oregon and Nevada and has possibly left the area to access help from them.
If you have any information or spot anything suspicious, officials ask that you do not approach him, and call 911 immediately.
