The Elko Police Department arrested a man who faces charges including open murder.
Officers arrived at a motel on Idaho Street on June 10 after receiving reports of a shooting.
At the motel, they say they found a dead man in a room, and the suspect had fled from the scene.
Detectives were able to track down the suspect to a home near 2nd Street and Cedar Street in Elko.
SWAT used distraction devices and chemical agents to get 54-year-old William Kerr out of the home.
Kerr was arrested and booked into the Elko County Jail. He faces the charges of open murder, ex-felon in possession of a firearm, and failure to register as an ex-felon.
Police are still investigating the case.Â
