Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program Arrested Man for Burglary

Detectives from the Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program (ROP) say they arrested James Hotta on Monday, which marks his second Felony arrest in the last five months.

Officials say 52-year-old Hotta was out on bail pending sentencing for a previous arrest in late March for a burglary charge. ROP detectives say they had Hotta under surveillance and watched him commit a burglary at a local WalMart.

Authorities say he was immediately arrested and found to be in possession of Methamphetamine while the stolen property was located and returned to WalMart.

Officials say Hotta was arrested for Burglary, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Ex-Felon Failing to Register, and Driving without a License or registration. ROP detectives say they will be working closely with the Washoe County District Attorney's Office and will be seeking a Habitual Offender enhancement.

The Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program is comprised of detectives from the Sparks Police Department, Reno Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff's Office, and Nevada Department of Parole and Probation. The unit works closely with a dedicated Prosecutor and Investigator from the Washoe County District Attorney's Office. The ROP team targets those who qualify as Habitual Offenders.
