Mario Bravo and his eight-and-a-half month pregnant wife, Adrianna, were shot in their front yard in Bakersfield, CA on Tuesday afternoon, authorities say.Â
KBAK/KBFX in Bakersfield reported that the baby boy was delivered at a Bakersfield hospital following the shooting and transferred to Valley Children's Hospital in Madera. The report says the baby is now in critical condition after being shot in the head while still in the womb. Adrianna is hospitalized in fair condition with a single gun shot wound to her hip. Â Her husband Mario is said to be stable, although his condition is unknown. According to investigators, he was shot several times trying to shield his wife from the attack.Â
On Friday the sheriff's office identified 3 men in connection to the shooting. 22-year-old Anthony Rios, 21-year-old James Rios and 24-year-old Anthony Sanchez. They fled the scene in a grey Honda 4-door with rear tinted windows and silver and black rims. All three men are wanted on attempted murder charges. Sheriff officers say that two of the suspects fired shots at the couple but no clear motive has been determined. Â "We're still trying to determine exactly what the motive is for this shooting," sheriff's spokesman Ray Pruitt told the affiliate. "We still don't know at this point exactly what led up to the confrontation." They are looking into the possibility of the shooting being gang related.Â
They are asking for the public's assistance in locating these individuals and ask that anyone with information helpful to this investigation can call the sheriff's office at (661) 861-3110 or the Secret Witness hotline at (661) 322-4040.
