On Saturday, people crowded into Wingfield Park and the Riverwalk District for the 16th Annual Reno River Festival. It's the first day of the two day event. Whitewater enthusiasts thrilled with tricks and competitions during the Reno River Festival.  Their daredevil acts inspired Douglas Earnst to perform an act of courage of his own at the Adventure Park area of the festival.“There are all sorts of stuff going on. So if I see like an adventure area, I can't go to an adventure area and not take part in it in some sort of shape or form,” said Ernst.

There are a variety of choices at the festival to suite different tastes. For some, it’s all about the different beers at the festival's assorted beer tents. For others it’s all about the food. “We got some catfish from one of the vendors. And a sausage and onions,” said festival attendee Francis Santiago. “My favorite part was actually the bratwurst that we ate.  It was really juicy and tasty to eat,” said festival attendee Angelica Lagante.

Others are all about the shopping. There are 140 vendors at the festival this year.  “A lot of the stands here are local. That is a great way for the community to come together and look all the different companies that are here in Reno,” said Lagante.

There is also a kids area at the festival. “We have a rock climbing wall and zip line across the river,” said event organizer Neil Horning.

Bicycle fans headed to the River Roll, a cycling trek with a band and DJ in tow.For those with Mother's Day on their mind, the second day of the festival on Sunday, might make the celebration easier to plan.

“What a phenomenal weekend for Mother’s Day with the shopping and the Summer Wine Village,” said Horning. The second day of the event runs from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday.
