Julia Woodward's family attended Charles Gary Sullivan's court hearing Wednesday morning.
Sullivan is accused of killing Woodward back in March of 1979.
Her body was found bludgeoned, off a remote hiking trail in Hungry Valley.
We spoke with Woodward's mother and sister following Sullivan's court hearing, and they had nothing but loving things to say about their sweet Julia.
"She was very sweet to me, called me her younger sister. Her little sister and I felt that. When she was gone, that was gone," says Mary Frances, Woodward's sister.
"She was just so smart, and so pretty. She was tall and blonde and always looked healthy," says Cecily O'Connor, Woodward's mother.
They say Julia was bright in school, and everyone looked up to her as a positive role model.
"She would have done great things if she would have been allowed to," says Frances.
As they hold on to memories of Julia like how she would bake the best cookies, what happened to her and the trial process still feels unreal at times.
"It shouldn't happen to anybody. You know after these court appearances when we get home it still feels like it's not real," says Frances.
As the hearings proceed Woodward's family is learning more and more about what happened to her.
Although they say this chapter may end if Sullivan is found guilty, they say they'll never fully get closure.
"It doesn't change things, it doesn't bring Julie back. You know she still is a big part of us that's missing," says Frances.
Charles Gary Sullivan's trail is set for January 25th of next year.
