A cold front drops the snow level to the valley floor Monday night, with moderate to heavy snow falling in the Truckee Meadows on Tuesday. Heavy snow persists in the Sierra through Wednesday.  The calm before the storm comes to a close this morning with the most impactful weather occurring between 7am-10pm Tuesday with Winter Storm Warnings in effect in Washoe, Storey, Carson City, and Douglas Counties as well as the Sierra. Snow and wind will be the main story today as snowfall will be expected to remain between 3-5 inches to the valley floor with feet at lake level, 6-12 inches around foot hill communities.    Winds will be prevalent today remaining between 20-30mph with peak winds gusting up to 40-50mph. Winds with snow can create "white out" conditions on Sierra passes so bring chains and stay updated with road conditions.    Highs today will remain below freezing in the 20s and 30s in the Sierra.
