14 Arrests in Child Sexual Exploitation Sting

On November 1 and 2, the Reno Police Department's Regional Human Exploitation and Trafficking (H.E.A.T) unit conducted a two-day operation at a place of lodging in town.

The purpose was to combat sex purchasers and other crimes related to child sexual exploitation. It targeted sex purchasers who were attempting to engage in sexual activity with minors.

Detectives were solicited by individuals on various online platforms and had arranged to engage in sexual activity with the undercover detective pretending to be a minor.

During the operation, law enforcement contacted and arrested 14 people who met up with them in person.

13 individuals were arrested for charges related to attempting to engage in sexual activity with who they believed to be a juvenile.

One person arrived at the meet location to try to engage in prostitution. When detectives contacted him, they found a controlled substance on him. He was arrested for solicitation of prostitution, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell.
