The STEM Education Program at the Desert Research Institute (DRI) is hosting free educational events for Pre-K kids from March through May.
The events are focused on developing literacy through science projects.
Students will experience hands-on experiments, story time, and interactive games as part of the event curriculum. In addition - each child will receive free books, while supplies last.
The free events are happening all over Nevada - click on a link below to get more information or to sign up for a seat for that location:
- Mesquite: 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. on March 15 at Mesquite Works STEAM Center [Theme: Ecosystems]
- Reno: 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. on March 15 at the Reno Public Market [Theme: Electricity]
- Elko: 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. on April 25 at the Elko Library [Theme: Electricity]
- Winnemucca: 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. on April 26 at the Humboldt County Library [Theme: Electricity]
- Las Vegas: 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on April 27 at the Clark County Library [Theme: Ecosystems]
- Boulder City: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on May 17 at the Boulder City Library [Theme: Ecosystems]
Nevada teachers will also have access to the activities used in these events via the "Ecosystem Explorers" and "It's Electric" teaching kits, provided by DRI's STEM Education Team through the Green Box program.
