Young Eagles EAA

Do you know a young kid that dreams of becoming a pilot, but has never flown before? Would they want a chance to experience the thrill of flight in a single-engine aircraft?

In an online post, the Carson City Chamber of Commerce says The Carson City EAA Chapter 403 can make that happen on Saturday, September 21 at the Carson City Airport during their Young Eagles event.

The event is free and offered to kids ages 8-17 years of age, but has limited availability, if interested you need to register as soon as possible by clicking here.

On the day of the event, the kids will get a pre-flight safety briefing and then get to fly in one of a variety of single-engine aircraft that are owned by one of the Young Eagle Pilots.

The kids will also get a Logbook to record their flights, a free membership to the EAA Young Eagles, and an access code for free online Ground School.

They will also be providing a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for $10 per person.

According to the EAA, The Young Eagles program began in 1992 and has dedicated 30 years to giving kids their first free ride in an airplane, their sole mission being to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation.

They say today, over 2.3 million kids have enjoyed a free introductory flight through the Young Eagles program, and flights are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.

Madeline had the ride of a lifetime on Tuesday at AirVenture. EAA Young Eagles Co-chairmen Sean D. Tucker and Jimmy Graham gave Young Eagles flights respectively to Ryan, of McLean, Virginia, and Madeline Anderson, 12, of Oshkosh. Sean and Ryan flew in Sean's PA-34 Seneca, while Jimmy and Madeline flew in Sean's Extra. Watch Madeline's excitement as she flies with Jimmy!
